Director of the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb, Prof. Gordana Buljan Flander, Ph. D. held two lectures in Istria for experts from centers for social welfare, schools, kindergartens, justice, health, police, city and diocesan counseling centers, representatives of local self-government, members of school councils of parents… organized by the Center for Social Welfare Pazin – Family Center Branch, on May 21st, 2019.
The first lecture, held in the morning, was sponsored by the City of Pazin and the County of Istria with the cooperation of the Pazin Open University, and was held at the Pazin Memorial House on the topic: “Do we recognize emotional abuse of children in a high conflict divorce?” The lecture was attended by Sandra Ćakić Kuhar- Deputy Mayor of Istria, Nevija Srdoč- Head of the Administrative Department for Self-administration, Administration and Social Affairs of the City of Pazin and Pavita Jelinčić, social worker, Director of the Social Welfare Center Pazin.
The director held a lecture in Pula in the congress hall of the Hotel Brioni, organized by the Family Center Branch and the City of Pula – Crime Prevention Council, on the topic “Screen in hand, childhood on the branch: how to have both today”. The lecture was attended by Sonja Grozić Živolić, Head of Administrative Services for Health and Social Welfare of the County of Istria, Elena Puh Belci, Deputy Mayor of the City of Pula, Ines Puhar, Head of the Family Center, and moderator was Marlena Plavšić, Ph.D., holder of several psychology courses at the Department of Teacher Education and Foreign Languages, Faculty of Philosophy, Pula.
After the lecture, the book “Science and Art of Upbringing” was also promoted, with Ines Puhar, head of the Family Center, Mladen Kosanović, clinical psychologist from the Children’s Home Ruža Petrović, psychologist from the Center Mia Roje Đapić as co-author and executive editor of the book, and Gordana Buljan Flander, Ph.D., editor-in-chief and author of the book. In this part of the event, the inspired moderator was psychologist Marlena Plavšić,Ph.D. During the promotion, a film of the Youth Committee of the Center ”This is us” was shown during the promotion, which warns about the problems of the mental health among young people. A young guitarist Giovanni Batista Ugeri Michelini who is a student of 2nd year of musical school in class of prof. Goran Benevrkić delighted everyone with his musical performance. Psychologist Ana Raguž, co-author of the book Science and Art of Upbringing, participated in these events.
After the excellent response of numerous and interested experts from Istria to these lectures, their study visit to the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb was arranged.
