Zagreb City Day was celebrated in the City Hall on 31 May with an official meeting of Zagreb City Assembly where this year Zagreb City Prize winners, including our Director, Prof. dr sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, were awarded.
Award of merit
This highest city award was delivered by the City Mayor Milan Bandić and the City Assembly President Boris Šprem with the following explanation: “Prof. dr sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, Child Protection Center of Zagreb Director is awarded with The City of Zagreb Award of Merit for highest merit and results achieved in theoretical and practical work in the field of psycho-social and health protection and the promotion of children’s rights.
Actively working in the protection of abused and neglected children in Croatia and managing the Child Protection Center of Zagreb, she established and has been conducting professional and scientific Brave Phone programmes and is the court expert witness of psychology for abused and traumatised children. Actively participating in professional and scientific conferences, teaching at the university, she established four new courses related to psycho-social protection, children’s rights promotion and support. She has popularised professional issues in books, handbooks and in the media, facilitating coping with parental dilemmas and helping children recognise how to protect and stand for themselves.
Prof. dr sc. Gordana Buljan Flander’s dedication and results have been recognised and awarded many times. Presenting the Council of Europe Campaign to stop child sexual abuse, she talked about the Child Protection Center model in the United Nations in New York.”
