At the workshop of the European Commission for Member States experts in Bruxelles, on 28 March 2014, the deputy director dr. Domagoj Štimac will present the Child Protection Center of Zagreb and participate in the discussion focused on the existing practice of supporting children victims within the work of the Center.
On 6 February 2018, we celebrated 15 years of the work of the Child and Youth Protection Centre of the city of Zagreb in the Renaissance Hall of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The event gathered the Representative of the President of Croatia Renata Margaretić Urlić, her consultant for social activities for the youth, dr. Ivan Ćelić, the representative of the President of Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković, the representative of the Prime Minister the Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić, the members of the Government: the Minister for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Nada Murganić, the Minister of Justice Dražen Bošnjaković, the City of Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić with his assistants, the Ambassador of Australia Elizabeth Petrović, the Ambassador of India Sandeep Kumar, the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Damir Boras, the Rector of the Zagreb Cathedral, reverent Josip Kuhtić, ombudsman for children Helenca Pirnat Dragičević, the members of the Parliament, deans Hrvoje Brkić and Snježana Sekušek Galešev, the President of the Croatian Psychological Chamber Andreja Bogdan, minister deputies, state secretaries, heads of city offices and city health and other institutions, our colleagues, children and parents from our committees.
After the welcoming speech given by Prof. dr sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, the audience was addressed by the City Mayor Milan Bandić, the Minister Milan Kujundžić and the Representative of the President of Croatia Renata Margaretić Urlić
Congratulations video messages sent by our colleagues abroad were presented, and dr sc Mirela Badurina from Sarajevo, the Director of Bosnian and Herzegovinian Psychotherapeutic Association for Children and Adolescents announced that Sarajevo was planning to open a Centre along the lines of our Centre, which was followed by a speech given by Darija Kuzmanič Korva, the Head of Slovenian social welfare centres.
During the presentation of drawings prepared by Croatian school children with their messages to parents and adults, our Director read the main highlights of what our Centre has achieved for the past 15 years.
Then girls from the Children’s Committee with their head Mia Roje presented their film with messages about what they should expect from parents and adults. The girls also read their letter to adults.
After that the Youth Committee presented their film “I ovo smo mi” about the problems and difficulties of growing up and read their letter to adults.
That was followed by Berislava Picek who spoke on behalf of the Parents Committee.
At the end of this programme, Dino and Karla Miklaužić, siblings, sang two convenient songs “Da sam ja netko” (If I were in charge), and “Mi smo taj svijet” (We are that world). Dino plays the electric guitar and is the winner of the second season of Croatian Talent Show for Children – Zvjezdice (Little stars)
