On the International Day of Fighting Against Violence on Women, November 23rd, 2018, the counseling center for the victims of domestic violence of the Đakovo-Osijek Archdiocese, organised Catechism-Pastoral lecture “VID MIHALJEK” for professional and wider public in Slavonski Brod “. A lecture titled “Manipulation of Children and the System in Highly-Conflict Separations – Identifying Emotional Abuse” was held by Prof. Sc. D. Gordana Buljan Flander, Director of the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb. A message on the importance of responding and dealing in situations of highly conflicting divorces and the recognition of manipulation and emotional abuse was presented to numerous gathered experts from various institutions and parents.
In the afternoon, Prof. Sc. D. Gordana Buljan Flander and Ana Raguž, mag.psych. held a presentation on “Attractiveness, Parenting and Family Dynamics”. Thirty specialists from different profiles gathered. The importance of developing different styles of attachment has been emphasized through the influence on thinking, behavior and emotional perception of the individual, establishing the relationship and functioning of the family as a whole through numerous examples and experiences of practical work. Throughout the discussion, it was concluded that the cooperation of all the institutions and institutions that are in charge of preserving the well-being of children, youth and families is extremely important.
The purpose of this lecture and education was to raise the awareness of the professional and wider public on the importance of tackling the problem of child abuse during the divorce process in situations where parents are in conflict and cannot reach an agreement.

Representatives of the Hellenic Republic, Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights from Athens, Evgenia Stathoulopoulou, Prosecutor, and Eva Kogiannaki, Chief of the Department of Juvenile Probation Service of Athens, visited the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb on April 26, 2018 to get acquainted with the Center’s work and the specifics of forensic interviewing. Both representatives are members of the Scientific Council for combating children`s victimization and criminality (KESATHEA).
Director of the Child Protection Center of Zagreb prof.dr.sc. Gordana Buljan Flander and the diagnosing and treatment team leader dr. sc. Bruna Profaca held a two-day seminar in Maribor for mental health professionals of the Paedopsychiatric Outpatient. The seminar was held on 28 January and 11 February 2012.
Public lecture for experts on "Understanding and Working with Children and Families Affected by Parental Alienation" was held by dr. sci. Karen Woodall and Nick Woodall on 10th of July 2019 in Zagreb. It was organized by by the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center and the Association of Judges for Youth, Family Judges and Experts for Children and Youth at the Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute of Public Health.
