At the World Congress on “Justice for Children” in Paris

Psychologist of the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb, Mia Roje participated at the World Congress “Justice for Children”, entitled “Strengthening Justice for Children: Challenges, including Disengagement from a Violent Extremism”. She was invited as a mentor at the AWAY project of the Terre des Hommes, conducted in collaboration with “Brave Phone”, which deals with issues of diversion or alternative ways of conductig with juveniles in conflict with the law.

The congress took place in the UNESCO building in Paris, and more than 900 experts from over a hundred countries participated. The main themes were: global trends of inclusion of children into violent and extremist programs, the need to develop effective methods of reducing the number and intensity of child conflict with law and recidivism, and developing effective prevention programs for particularly vulnerable and children at-risk. In addition to interesting presentations of good practices in the world, participants had an opportunity to discuss through the  workshops at the intersectional level and share experiences with suggestions for further development.
