Director Gordana Buljan Flander, prof, Ph.D participated in the expert meeting „Child and system manipulation: do we recognize child emotional abuse?“ organized by the Association of Social Workers of the Osijek-Baranja County in Osijek, March 22nd, 2019. Director held the introductory lecture “Manipulation of children and system”:

“A child in a high-conflict divorce that is alienated from one parent is an emotionally abused child. I must point out that this applies to those cases where that other parent does not endanger the life, safety and rights of the child to life without abuse”, the director said in a statement to the media and added,”If we speak against one parent to a child, if that leads to a child completely rejecting that parent, we have made the child reject half of itself, hating half of itself that reminds it of the other parent. And later, when the child is 15, 16, 17 years old, we will wonder why is this child suicidal, why is it self-destructive, why is it problematic and why is it violent, instead of recognizing on time that a child who is in a high-conflict divorce, who is alienated from one parent – is an emotionally abused child”.

Cases from practice of the Center for Social Work in Đakovo, Osijek and Valpovo were also presented and the following presentations were held:

Višnja Mioč, a police officer for juvenile delinquency of the Osijek-Baranja County Police Unit: “MOI activities in the field of legal protection of children”
