Child Protection Center of Zagreb participated in the First International Congress of Person Centred Medicine. The presentation 'The Effects of Children’s Online Activities – are Those Engaged in Cyberbullying at Risk of Self-harm?' was delivered by dr. Domagoj Štimac, psychiatrist, sub specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and deputy of Center's director. Co-authors were Ella Selak Bagarić, psychologist of the Brave Phone and prof. dr. sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, Director of the Child Protection Center of Zagreb.
Domagoj Štimac, MD, Deputy Principal of the Child Protection Center of Zagreb, participated, as one of the authors, at the presentation of the Almanac of professional papers: Sex offender against children database, at the Croatian Bar Association on 17 November. The Almanac is a result of the professional discussion organised by Children’s Advocate Mila Jelavić in November 2007, who also reminded the present that, despite her recommendation directed to the Government and to the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs, nothing has been done to prepare such a database.
Such a database is an international obligation of Croatia. The Conference included international knowledge and experience, domestic resources from the field of psychology and the media and great opportunities for discussions and drawing up conclusions and recommendations. Guests of the Conference were foreign experts: Lisa Blackman of Goldsmiths University in London, Blandine Kriegel, president of the French High Government Council for Integration and Roal Ulrichsen, president of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations. More than 90 Croatian experts from the fields of psychology, journalism and media participated with lectures, workshops and round tables. Experts from the Child Protection Center of Zagreb contributed to panel discussions.
