Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center’s psychologist Ella Selak Bagarić held an educational lecture “Protection of children victims of domestic violence” intended for professionals in institutions and organizations that meet in their work women victims of violence and victims of domestic violence organized by the Association “HERA” Križevci and the Center for Social Welfare Koprivnica on Monday, July 6, 2020. The training was held in the premises of the Center for Social Welfare Koprivnica, and will be scored by the Croatian Chamber of Social Workers.
The aim of the lecture was to acquaint participants with the consequences for the mental health of children and youth, but also the consequences that without adequate treatment, reactions of experts and all instances of the system are transmitted to adulthood by people with childhood trauma and lead to transgenerational transmission of violence. Risk factors for child abuse are also explained taking into account the characteristics of the child and parents, parental competencies, and environmental factors. The special emphasis of the lecture was on the consequences for somatic health, which is increasingly confirmed by recent research and clinical practice.
This lecture is part of the activities of the project “Counseling for women victims of violence and victims of domestic violence” conducted by the Association “HERA” in cooperation with the Center for Social Welfare Koprivnica, Center for Social Welfare Križevci and Association “Better Tomorrow” for people with disabilities. The project is financially supported by the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy.
