24sata: “Here’s a fun game for the days when the whole family is within their 4 walls”

The 24sata Daily portal suggested to its readers to have fun with “Cards for Rainy days” created by the psychologist of Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center, Tea Brezinšćak. Thus, journalist Marijana Matkovic, in an article entitled “Here’s a Fun Game for the Days when the whole family is within its 4 walls” published on April 5, 2020:

“For all those who are facing problems communicating with family members these days, especially children who are not easily taken by the fact that they are much more confined in the home, cannot socialize with peers and have to deal with a range of situations that may not understand or fear them, experts from the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center often those days publish interesting tips.

Among them is a free brochure entitled ’55 Ideas for Family Activities That Connect and Build Psychological Resilience’ , which was designed and compiled by a psychologist, Tea Brezinšćak, as a parent’s help.

Ideas are stacked in cards, with at least two players answering questions, while everyone else participates in the challenges. The game will be most interesting to children between the ages of 7 and 11, but it can be played by anyone who wants to laugh a little and fill their time creatively, the author points out.

Cards should be printed and cut. You can play by mixing them, choosing one, or by choosing a number from 1 to 55 and selecting a card that is in that order. Good to know: there are no right and wrong answers, the drawings to be made do not have to be perfect, because the goal is fun, not rating, and a bit of clutter is allowed. It is only important that no one’s feelings are hurt and that nothing is damaged.

Here are some of the challenges that bring cards:

  • Superheroes – Imagine being a superhero! How do you look? What are your special powers? What’s your name? What are you fighting for? Tell a story, and if you want, you can draw as a superhero or make plasticine or collage.
  • Teleportation machine – You found a teleportation machine in the attic! Where do you want to travel and why? Describe and draw your own journey.
  • Perfect day – Imagine what it would be like to have the perfect day together when possible. Tell or draw how you imagine yourself, then compare.
  • How well do you know each other? – Try to remember or guess what the other person is:

– your favorite color

– your favorite animal

– your favorite food

– your favorite place.

Did you guess? What else can you guess?

  • Courage Medal – Remember something that was difficult for you, or you were afraid, but you managed to do it. What helped you do that? Draw each other’s medals for bravery. “
