Psychologists of the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center, Krešimir Prijatelj, Ana Raguž, Mia Roje Đapić and Ella Selak Bagarić participated in a video for children and youth of the Zaprešić Youth Center on the topic “World Mental Health Day in a health crisis”. The video was shot in cooperation with the Association of Students of the City of Zaprešić, which is aimed at informing, educating, organizing free time, volunteering and encouraging young people to actively participate in the community. The project is funded by the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy.

The experts of the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center sent messages of support to children and young people in the video:

“Dear young people, remember this school year that it is much more important than school success to stay mentally healthy. And remember that just because you can’t hang out the way you used to hang out doesn’t mean you still don’t need friends or that you still don’t need relationships with your peers” said psychologist Mia Roje Djapic.

“This year has been difficult for many reasons, and we want to tell you this way that it’s OK to feel the way you feel. Although we sometimes feel alone in our problems, we want to say that you are not alone and that many child psychologists and professionals who work with children are there for you and will be willing and willing to hear what is happening to you. You are not alone, we are here for you”, said psychologist Ana Raguž.

“The current health crisis has left numerous consequences for adults, but also for children and young people” said psychologist Krešimir Prijatelj.

‘Taking care of yourself is not just wearing masks and gloves. Taking care of yourself also includes a lifestyle that actually puts a person first, ie maintaining good sleep hygiene, taking care of a healthy diet, taking care of contact with people who do us good, avoiding contact that is toxic, which brings us extra stress, taking care of what makes us happy, is there something that makes us happy, that calms us down, that relaxes us. If we have problems finding such resources in our lives, it is certainly worth seeking the help of experts” said psychologist Elle Selak Bagarić.
