Good news is coming to us from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation: professor Irma Kovčo Vukadin, PhD, introduced the teaching of alienation as part of the teaching curriculum of the subject Social Pathology. The literature for the course is two papers by our experts published in the scientific journal “Criminology & Social Integration: Journal of Criminology, Penology and Behavioral Disorders” published by the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation. These are the professional work “Separation of parents and alienation: Lost in translation – Operationalization of professional and scientific terminology” whose authors are experts from the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center – psychologist Mia Roje Đapić, director professor Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD and the head of the City Office for Social Protection and Persons with Disabilities and the president of the board of the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center Romana Galić published in 2020, and a review paper “Prevention of emotional abuse of children in high-conflict parental divorce: Analysis of the situation in Croatia” author Mia Roje Đapić, mag.psych. and professor Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD, published in 2019.

The introduction of this topic in the education of supporting professions will certainly improve the protection of children in Croatia, and the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation under the leadership of the Dean, professor Snježana Sekušak-Galešev, PhD confirms her status as a higher education institution open to new knowledge.
