Director of the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center, professor Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD, held an invited lecture on September 30, 2020: “Multidisciplinary and intersectoral child protection system: good practice model in long-term health and wellbeing” at the 20th International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC20) organized by the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC). The meeting was held in the form of a webinar, in co-organization with the Health Center Zagreb – Center, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, University of Zagreb and Libertas University, as part of Croatia’s EU Council Presidency in 2020 (HR PRES 2020).
The ICIC20 conference brought together international leaders and experts dedicated to integrated care, with more than 1,000 participants. One hundred presentations were held in more than 150 hours over four days (9, 16, 23 and 30 September 2020). According to the wishes of the organizers, the director presented the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center as an example of good practice in multidisciplinary approach to children, especially children victims of abuse and neglect, with the inevitable cooperation with institutions of other sectors, for which the our Center is a proud holder of ISPCAN (The International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) awards since 2008.
The main topics of the 20th International Conference on Integrated Care were: the challenges of integrated care in early development, childhood and transitional care for adolescents; an integrated community-based care program for better prevention, detection, and treatment of disease with a stigmatizing effect on the individual; integrating cancer care, palliative care, dying care and hospice care; use of cultural programs in integrated care for people with disabilities and the elderly; digital tools and artificial intelligence to strengthen self-care, patient education and multidisciplinary care at all levels of the system.
The organizer of the conference, the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC), is a non-profit network whose activities in the field of education transcend the boundaries of organizations and professions and connect various stakeholders to advance research, understanding and application of integrated care. in legislation and practice. Cooperation between the health and social sectors, primarily through the use of digital technologies, seeks to provide individual-oriented care (digital solutions for health, well-being and healthy aging).
