“The needs of children and families in the new normal: Necessary adaptive experts” is the title of the webinar led by the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center director, professor Gordana Buljan Flander, PhD held at the beginning of October 2020 for experts from the social welfare system of the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The webinar was organized by the Regional Association of Social Workers in Doboj, and was supported by the OSCE Mission (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of its regular program activities.

In her presentation, the director presented the latest scientific and clinical knowledge about the needs of children, youth and families in the current health crisis, with special reference to working with families of divorced parents. The last part of the lecture was dedicated to telephone and online counseling, as new forms of providing customer support and the necessary adaptation of tools and methods of work in the current circumstances. Participants received a free manual “Hello, help!”, which was published by experts from the Zagreb Child and Youth Protection Center and Brave Phone in the spring of 2020 with the support of the Croatian Psychological Chamber, for all experts involved in telephone counseling. They also gained access to webinars recorded in the organization of Brave Phone during the health crisis, which through a series of lectures further improve the expert helpers in telephone and online counseling. As always, co-operation with the OSCE proved to be extremely successful, and the interest and response from colleagues from the neighbouring country was great.
