ANNOUNCEMENT: Council of Europe Conference on Children’s Rights in Dubrovnik

Council of Europe organises a high level Conference “Growing with Children’s Rights” in Dubrovnik from 27 to 28 March 2014. The Conference will focus on the progress achieved in promoting and protecting children’s rights within the framework of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2012-2015. The Conference will also offer opportunities to assess obstacles children cope with in having their rights respected and to elaborate further Council of Europe priorities in this area.

With regard to our experience in the area of children’s rights and the leading role of the Child Protection Center of Zagreb in alerting Croatian public about sexual abuse of children, the Council of Europe invited our director, prof. dr. sc. Gordana Buljan Flander, to speak at the round table “Prevention and combating sexual violence against children”. This round table will focus on raising public awareness at national level, exchange of ideas on how to take advantage of the Lanzarote monitoring process at national level, and especially on understanding realities of sexual abuse of children in the circle of trust.
