News In Prague, on 11 July 2017, a meeting was organized which brought together practitioners from across Europe who are dealing with the manipulation of children by parents in divorce proceedings. The purpose of the meeting was to establish European Association of Parental Alienation Practitioners (EAPAP, https://www.eapap.eu/) that will deal with this issue at a systematic international and multidisciplinary level.

Gordana Buljan Flander and Ana Marija Spanic with Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative to the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children Successful final PROMISE project Conference in Brussels: Launching the European Barnahus Movement

News After successful two years of PROMISE project, including exchange meetings in Zagreb, Reykjavik and Haarlem, as well as the regional conference and study visit in Linköping, on 14 June 2017 professionals from around Europe came to the European Committee of Regions in Brussels where the final PROMISE project Conference: Launching the European Barnahus Movement, was held. The PROMISE project has since 2015 been part of consolidating and strengthening the Barnahus movement in Europe by exchanging learning and providing quality standards and tools.

News The University of Tirana hosted the First Mediterranean Summit for Child Protection and Wellbeing from 1st to 3rd of June in Albania. Eleven countries of the Mediterranean were represented by members of the Ministries of Social Policy and Youth with professors from Departments of Psychology of the University of Slovenia, Algeria, Palestine, Israel, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Albania, Italy and Spain. News Professionals of the Psychological Society of Republika Srpska, the Psychological Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Psychological Society of the Brčko District visited the Centre on 24 May 2017. Their two-day visit to the City of Zagreb institutions, organised within their specialist education "Psychological Support of Children in Criminal Proceedings", included their visit to the Zagreb County Court, the Crime Investigation Police Department, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and the Ombudsman for Children.

The seminar was planned for undergraduate and graduate students of social education, social work, special education and rehabilitation, and organised and realised by professors from the Netherlands (Inholland University of Applied Sciences, Amsterdam), Belgium (UC Leuven-Limburg, Leuven and Odisee, Bruxelles), Slovakia (Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra), Poland (Kazimiery Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom) and Croatia (Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation, Zagreb University).

News The first meeting of the Children's Committee of the Child and Youth Protection Centre, which we nicknamed the "Little Committee", was held on Wednesday, 3 May 2017. It was attended by a small number of children (aged 7-11) – four girls, because some of the members were sick and others celebrated their birthdays. However, it did not prevent us from working and having fun.

Source of photography: FRA In Vienna on improving and empowering child participation in legal processes

News Fundamental Right Agency (FRA) organized an event ''It felt like I was just a puppet: How to improve child participation" on 28 April 2017 in Vienna. The main topic was improving and empowering child participation in legal processes and justice system in general. According to FRA, over 2.5 million children participate in judicial proceedings across the European Union (EU) every year, affected by parental divorce or as victims of, or witnesses to, crime. Ensuring a child-friendly legal system thus has to be a matter of priority for all the experts involved. Children were also included in this meeting and they ideas, testimonies and stories were taken with high importance.
